This doctoral dissertation investigates the sociology of Emile Durkheim in the study of International Relations (IR). It identifies the problem that IR has interpreted Durkheimian sociology erroneously, exemplified particularly by Kenneth Waltz’s application of Durkheimian sociology in his theory of structural realism.
