Abstract:
In order to increase the root load capacity of gearwheels thus reducing weight and increasing cost effectiveness a new, easily implementable gear root fillet has been developed. The decrease in notch effect often found in nature, which is brought about by special forms taking stress off certain parts (e.g. where a tree trunk breaks through the earth) has been examined with regard to its applicability to gearwheel design.
