Community support applications are currently at the focus point of development and research in areas like knowledge management and customer relationship management. However, researchers and developers tend to look at virtual only support without taking physical face-to-face meeting spaces into consideration. Additionally, most of the current scenarios focus on information or knowledge exchange instead of the social network aspects like facilitating communication or bringing people together. In this paper we briefly present an interaction design oriented approach to supporting communities in physical places of exchange. In this context we mainly look at identity management issues and at designing new user interfaces for community support that consider the space as an integral component of the concept.
