Land consolidation procedures are designed to achieve the defined objectives and measures effectively and efficiently. In this regard, the procedures are also regularly subject to quantitative evaluations. In addition to that, land consolidation procedures are also complex communication situations in which a large number of people with different objectives, prior knowledge, interests, expectations, general conditions and motivations communicate with each other. An evaluation of the communication and information behaviour in land consolidation procedures and how these can support, influence and enrich the procedures has not been extensively considered in the context of land consolidation procedures. Therefore, this study focuses on the questions of communication in land readjustment procedures and the needs of the participants in these processes regarding communicational issues. The evaluation focuses on the communication between the participants, the elected board members and the project manager. In order to be able to analyze the needs and expectations of the procedure participants in more detail and to identify optimization possibilities, an explorative research structure in the form of a mixed-method design is chosen. This consists of guided interviews with project leaders and a questionnaire study, which is addressed to the process participants. The framework of the survey consists of three main topics: information and communication processes, participation processes and general process design. Eleven land consolidation procedures were selected for the evaluation in cooperation with the Office for Rural Development Upper Bavaria: six standard land consolidation and five simplified processes. The selected processes differed in terms of number of participants, duration and stage of the process and are evenly distributed among six of Bavaria's seven administrative districts. A total of 28 guided interviews and the evaluation results from 543 questionnaires were included in the evaluation. The survey has shown that the majority of the participants evaluate the communication in the procedures as very positive. In addition, optimization potentials were identified, which are particularly in the area of information provision by the board members to the other procedure participants and relate to the awareness of those responsible for communication regarding the effects of communication and consequently regarding the task of communication.    «
