The chemical composition of aerosol particles in the air is successfully used to determine their origins, e.g., traffic emissions, biomass burning, or ship emissions. Single-Particle Mass Spectrometry (SPMS) is a sensitive measurement technique to analyze the chemical composition in real-time.
